Clay Projects in Key Stage One

‘Animal Pattern’ Clay Tiles in Year One

We have had lots of fun making Animal Pattern Tiles using air drying clay. We rolled clay into tiles, coils and spheres. We embedded terracotta clay shapes into stone coloured clay tiles using rolling pins. We were careful not to roll the tile too much, to keep the shape of our tiles.

Clay animals in Year Two

We created our wonderful animals out of clay.  We pulled and pinched smaller shapes out from a piece of clay that we had rolled into a cylinder, to form legs, necks, heads and tails.  We added little details, textures and patterns to our animals too.  We also checked to make sure our little sculptures were stable and that all pieces were joined well.
