Our Year Two lunchtime Art Club have been taking inspiration from Claude Monet. For their London topic, they looked at the work he created when he visited London in 1900.

Claude Monet was a painter who lived in France. 
 

Monet had a passion for all kinds of water, such as the sea, rivers, streams and ponds. 

Monet's friend encouraged him to paint outdoors rather than in his studio, and his paintings really came alive! 

Claude Monet had a house in Giverny where he created a beautiful garden to paint. Some of his most famous paintings were the Japanese Bridge and Waterlily pictures.

Monet also created a series of paintings when he came to London in 1900 and he spent 5 years painting 95 different views of London landmarks around the River Thames.

The winter seasons, the mist, coal smoke and the light from the sunshine, inspired many of Monet's London paintings.

The works here were created by Naomi, Diana, Seita, Phoebe and Oliver, from Year 2.
