Collaborative Art and Maths

In Year Two we looked at the painting 'Broadway Boogie Woogie' by the artist, Piet Mondrian.
We learnt that he was an abstract artist who liked to explore colour, shapes, lines and patterns.
We saw lots of lines, squares and rectangles in 'Broadway Boogie Woogie'.
We also learnt that Mondrian liked to use primary colours to paint his pictures.
For Maths and Art week, we worked out fractions of 8 and 12 to create a picture inspired by Mondrian's painting.
We coloured the fractions on squared paper in red, blue and yellow.
We enjoyed working together on one piece of artwork.
It was exciting to see the finished picture!
