Garden Suburb Infant School

Spirit of the Wild

We had some very special visitors in school, and they caused a great deal of excitement and interest.

We welcomed back Ben, Hannah and their menagerie of animals from “Spirit of the Wild”. Each year group had a personalised session, learning all about the animals and their features, experiencing what they felt like and finding out their habitats and how they are suited to the different places where they live. We met an extremely soft chinchilla, a magnificent fruit bat and two young meerkats, who have been adopted by male meerkat after being rejected by their parents in a zoo. The children got to handle animals from the different animal groups, including reptiles, birds, spiders and amphibians, as well as the mammals.
