Each year we undertake a whole school project and during this term each class will focus on the work of the author Julia Donaldson in a ‘Take One Author’ project.

The Reception classes will be enjoying a different book each week, starting in the first week with Room on the Broom. We were very surprised to find the witch's broom and hat last week! I wonder how they got there!

The children in Year One will be starting with The Stick Man and they were very excited to discover a stick man in the school garden last week. There has already been much discussion and writing about how he got there. Posters are appearing all around school to try and find out where he has come from! Later in the term the children will be enjoying The Snail and the Whale and learning all about journeys.

In Year Two we will be focussing on her book Tyrannosaurus Drip and not surprisingly much of our work this half term will centre around dinosaurs. The children are already very excited at the prospect! Most exciting was the discovery of some dinasaur eggs in the sand pit and some dinosaur foot prints in the garden! All of this was followed by a trip to The Natural History Museum.

We will of course be enjoying reading and listening to many of Julia Donaldson's other works during the course of the term.
