Garden Suburb Infant School

Reception Year Home Learning

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you are all keeping well!

Please find attachments with suggested activities to help you and your child with the home learning. We have provided you with a learning pack and a green exercise book. Please record the learning in the green exercise books and use your Tapestry logins to upload evidence of their learning so we are able to see it.

Each section contains suggestions for learning activities. Please remember not to do all the activities in one go… just pick and choose which ones to do during the week. You may like to repeat the activities as that will help their learning too.

Please keep the pack provided as you will be using the sounds, words and numbers for the weeks to come. You were also given a list of useful websites to use at home  - please click here to access links to these websites as well as links to help promote physical activity.

Wishing you all well,

The Reception Team

Week 2 - 30th March - 3rd April 2020.

We hope you are all keeping safe and well at home. We are missing your smiling faces and cheery voices in class but we are really enjoying your uploads onto Tapestry! Please do keep them coming!

Below you will now find a link to the second weeks activities as well as a copy of the songs we were practising for our performance. We thought you would enjoy singing along with your children.

We also thought you might enjoy a special sing along with our very own Mrs Coote! To access this either click here or use the tabs on the right hand side.

Wishing you all well, please keep safe and wash those hands!

Hello! We hope you are all well and have managed to have a fun Easter Break.

Did the Easter Bunny visit?

Thank you to everyone that has uploaded photos and messages onto Tapestry, we have really enjoyed seeing them all. If you haven't managed to do so, please try to upload something so that we can see how you are getting on!

Below you will find this weeks suggested activities. We hope you have enjoyed watching Mrs Cootes sing-along!

We miss you all and wish you all well!

The Reception Team

Week 4 - 27th April - 1st May

A big thank you to all the parents that have made contact with us so far. If you haven't managed to let us know how your child is getting on or to send us any photos or images of their work, please do contact us as soon as possible - we would love to hear how all the children are and how they are doing with their learning.

Our school message is “be kind to yourself”. We set home learning tasks as suggested activities you could do with your child, have a go at an activity from each subject, but please don’t feel pressured to get everything done. Your well-being is important to us.

There are two other documents to support this weeks learning attached below. Do try to take a look at our Sing-along with Mrs Coote page for more wonderful songs to enjoy together!

Stay safe and well!

Week 5 - 4th May - 8th May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you are all keeping well! It has been lovely to have been able to call so many of you and catch up over the phone. We will continue to do this over the coming weeks and try to speak with eveyone!

This week we are focussing on building independence. “Independent Iris” is one of our learning behaviour animals which the children have learnt about. It is very important that your child learns to be independent and self-reliant with as many activities as possible after some initial support from you to start them off. They should be able to occupy themselves for about half an hour at a time.

Please encourage your child to have a go at reading a book or writing a word/sentence independently. They can watch the phonics video and play the phonics games on their own. You can ask them to do a household chore such as vacuuming a room. In addition, they should do the fine motor skills and the arts and crafts activities independently as well as the Physical Development activities.

If you haven’t already watched Mrs Saunders’ message on Tapestry, then please have a look for some really helpful and practical advice on how to support your child in achieving this. Following on from Mrs Saunders message, please also encourage your child to play independently.

Have a good week and remember – you don’t have to do all the activities! Just as many as you feel able to. Stay safe.

We look forward to seeing how you are getting on.

Week 6 - 11th May - 15th May

We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend! We will continue to try to make contact with you. Please do try to upload something onto Tapestry, even if its just a photo of something you have enjoyed doing together as a family.

Stay Safe!

Week 7 18th May - 22nd May

Dear parents and carers,

This week we are learning how to be more reflective. We are learning how to think about our approach and attitude towards learning, our choices and behaviour. Are we helping ourselves to learn, are we cooperative and independent? What can we do differently to make sure this is more effective?

We hope you enjoy the Home Learning for this week. Please remember that we don’t expect you to do all of it but have tried to give you a wide variety of options.

We look forward to seeing how you get on with it on Tapestry.  Have a good week and keep up the good work!

Stay safe,

Reception Team

Week 8 2nd June - 5th June

Welcome back!

We hope you have had a restful half term and managed to have some special family time together?

This half term, our learning will be based on the story “Handa’s Surprise” by Eileen Browne, and the activities will involve food and healthy eating, exploring our heritage, wild animals and different habitats.

We hope you enjoy the Home Learning for this week. Please remember that we don’t expect you to do all of it but have tried to give you a wide variety of options.

We look forward to seeing how you get on with it on Tapestry.

Have a good week and keep up the good work!

Week 9 - 8th June - 12th June

Week 10 - 15th June - 19th

We hope you are all keeping well!

For those of you coming into school this week, please look closely at the home learning to see what work we will be completing with your child. You will see a small school symbol next to the activities that we will be doing in school.

When your child is not in school, please carry on with the Home Learning and work through the activities, posting on Tapestry as usual. If your child is not coming into school, it is essential that you are engaging with the Home Learning and posting on Tapestry so that we can see how they are getting on.

Keep in touch & Stay safe!

Best wishes,

The Reception Team
