Garden Suburb Infant School

Year Two Home Learning

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you are all keeping well!

Please find attachments with suggested activities to help you and your child with the home learning. We have provided you with a learning pack and a blue exercise book. Please record the learning in the exercise books provided.

Each section contains suggestions for learning activities. Please remember not to do all the activities in one go… just pick and choose which ones to do during the week. You may like to repeat the activities as that will help their learning too.

Please keep the pack provided as you will be using the sounds, words and numbers for the weeks to come. You were also given a list of useful websites to use at home  - please click here to access links to these websites as well as links to help promote physical activity.

Wishing you all well,

The Year Two Team

 Week 2 - w/c 30.03.20

We hope you are all keeping well,

Please find attached some learning activities to see you through the coming week.

You should now all be able to upload the things you are doing to Tapestry so we can keep in touch and give you guidance. Take photographs of the things you write, draw and make so you can upload. Don’t forget the physical activities; films and photos of those would be great! We can also see the work you are saving on Purple Mash - which has been wonderful!

 Week 4 - 27th April - 1st May

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank to all the parents that have made contact with us so far.

It was really lovely to be able to speak with many of you this week. We will try to make contact with everyone over the coming weeks.  We have really enjoyed seeing how you are getting on via Tapestry and receiving work via Purple Mash.  If you haven't managed to let us know how your child is getting on or to send us any photos or images of their work, please do contact us as soon as possible - we would love to hear how all the children are doing.

Our school message is “be kind to yourself”. We set home learning tasks as suggested activities you could do with your child, have a go at an activity from each subject, but please don’t feel pressured to get everything done. Your well-being is important.

 Week 5 - 4th May-8th May 2020

Dear Parents/carers,

We hope you are keeping well! It was really lovely to be able to speak with many more of you this week. We will continue to try to make contact with everyone over the coming weeks!

This week we are focusing on independence and have included a picture of “Independent Iris” one of our learning behaviour animals beside tasks we think your child may be able to have a go at doing independently, or after some initial support to start them off.

We hope you have a good week and remember – you don’t have to do all the activities! Just as many as you feel able to.

Stay safe.

Week 6 - 11th May - 15th May

We hope you all enjoyed the long weekend! You will fond three attachments for this weeks learning.

We will continue to try to make contact with you. Please do try to upload something onto Tapestry, even if its just a photo of something you have enjoyed doing together as a family.

Week 7 - 18th May - 22nd May

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for encouraging our learning behaviours with your children at home.  We have noticed that more children are being independent and having a go at activities on  their own.  We are very proud of their efforts and we know that you are too!  Remember, we do not expect you to complete everything if you cannot, just do what you can and try to include a daily reading and PE activity. You will find two attachments for this weeks learning.

Stay Safe,

The Year Two Team

Week 8 - 2nd June - 5th June 2020

      Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you’ve all had a restful break :-) We welcome you back to begin our final       half term together!

First of all, a bit of news...we ‘ve had a surprise visitor in our Year 2 classes over the        half term break- Watch the “surprise visitor” video on tapestry to find out     more!

Remember, we do not expect you to complete everything if you cannot, just do              what you can and try to include a daily reading and physical activity.

      Take care & Stay Safe!

 Week 9 - 8th June  - 12th June

Dear Parents and Carers,  This week we will be introducing our school learning behaviour animal “Reflective Rowan”. This involves thinking about what you are learning as well as listening to feedback and having a go at improving it.

 Week 10 - 15th June  - 19th June

     Dear Parents and Carers,

Dear Parents and Carers,  Thank you for all the great work you have been posting on tapestry. Sunny enjoyed receiving all your letters inviting him to your homes, he is spoilt for choice! I hope you are enjoying our new topics and learning lots of new information about continents, habitats and adaptation.

Many of you have become coding experts, in a short amount of time, which is so nice to see. Keep up those great school learning behaviours at home:

● Independent Iris- having a go at activities on their own.

● Co-operative Colin- building teamwork skills.

● Resilient Rupert- persevering, even when they are finding activities tricky.

● Reflective Rowan-thinking about what you are learning as well and having a go at improving it.

This week we introduce our final learning behaviour, “Inventive Ivy”, who loves being imaginative, like many of you. She is resourceful which means she can come up with creative ideas to make things work.  Look out for her picture in our home learning activities.
Remember, we do not expect you to complete everything if you cannot, just do what you can and try to include a daily reading and physical activity.

For Year 2 key worker children currently in school, please look out for a school symbol which will be placed near home learning activities we will be implementing in school during the week.

Keep in touch and stay safe!

Week 11 - 22nd - 26th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to applaud you all for your continued hard work in supporting and motivating your children with their home learning.  We know that it can be challenging to juggle, in these unprecedented times.  Thank you :))

To the children, keep up those great school learning behaviours at home!  Continue to discuss the learning behaviours that you think you need to practice!

Safe safe

Week 12 - 29th June - 3rd July

Hi Year 2!

We hope you have been enjoying this wonderful weather?

We have been working with the juniors to make the Year 2 to Year 3 transition as useful and helpful as possible. This week we have included a transition related activity to complete. We strongly encourage you to have a go at the task with your child as it forms an important part of the transition process.

Thank you for all your continued efforts and engagement with our home learning tasks.

Week 13 - 06th July - 10th July

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week we are very excited to be welcoming each Year 2 class back into school for a visit!  For most of you, it has been a long time since you were in your familiar school environment, but everything is just the same as when you left it!  Of course there will be hand washing routines and some distancing that we will need to remember on the day, in order to keep everyone safe.

We really can’t wait to see you and to share our stories about how we have been feeling and getting on during these very unusual times!

See you soon!

Best Wishes

The Year Two Team
